Serving the Bay Area since 1984, Love A Child Missions has been serving homeless women and children of Contra Costa County by providing emergency shelter, food, clothing, and offering hope through substance recovery programs, job training, educational support, and many other programs.  Please consider supporting this wonderful organization!

November 2021:  Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa  -  DONATED $500!

 

 

Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa subsidizes over 1.5 million nutritious meals annually; delivered to frail, nutritionally at-risk homebound elders in their residences in Contra Costa County.  Senior citizens over 80 years old is the fastest growing segment in Contra Costa County with many living below the poverty line and making tough decisions between food, medicine and basic survival needs.  The work this organization does to support this community is vital

September 2021:  "The Big La Bocce" Sponsored by Loaves and Fishes & St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County -  DONATED $780!









 
In September, we're shaking things up a bit by donating to two deserving organizations through our sponsorship of The Big La Bocce tournament!

Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa County is a safety-net food program serving anyone in need in Contra Costa.  For over 38 years Loaves and Fishes has provided hunger relief to individuals, families, seniors, disadvantaged youth and people with disabilities.  The mission of Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa is to provide community-based food programs and partner services that focus on basic needs.  

St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County provides person-to-person service of time, talent and resources to help neighbors in need regardless of gender, national origin, race, or religion. Annually, St. Vincent de Paul delivers over $1.7 million of in-kind aid, (mostly food, medical & dental care), and over $1 million of direct aid, (mostly rent and utility assistance). Their 752 volunteers serving from the 29 SVdP branches donate over 70,000 hours of volunteer service annually.

August 2021:  Mount Diablo Interpretive Association - DONATED $700!

 
 
 
 

The Mount Diablo Interpretive Association (MDIA) is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization that assists the California Department of Parks and Recreation in maintaining and interpreting Mount Diablo State Park for its 700,000 visitors each year. Through education, sponsored activities, and publications, MDIA fosters appreciation and the enlightened use of Mount Diablo State Park. Additionally, MDIA supports the Summit Museum and Mitchell Canyon Visitor Center and coordinates the Volunteers in the Parks Program, which trains and manages park docents, sponsors guided hikes, and helps maintain trails.

July 2021:  MDUSD Education Foundation - DONATED $700!

The MDUSD Education Foundation provides STEAM-related enrichment opportunities to over 30,000 students in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, no matter which school they attend.  With their work, they seek to foster a culture of excellence and inclusion in all MDUSD schools, provides funds and resources for educational activities beyond the standard curriculum and collaborate with

businesses and/or trades for alternative educational or vocational career experiences for students.

June 2021:  Clayton Business & Community Association (CBCA) - DONATED $600!

For the Good of the Community is the motto of the CBCA they live up to their name!  Through various fundraisers and community festivals (Art & Wine, BBQ Cook -Off, Skip Ipsen Memorial Bocce Tournament, Oktoberfest & Holiday Tree lighting and Dessert with Mrs. Claus) the organization raises money which goes back into the community through scholarship programs, computers for schools, general beautification of the City (e.g. Holiday decorations, etc.) and other worthwhile programs.

April 2021:  Glide - DONATED $500!

Glide is on the forefront of addressing some of society's most pressing issues, including poverty, housing and homelessness, and racial and social justice.

​

Glide is a nationally recognized center for social justice, dedicated to fighting systematic injustices, creating pathways out of poverty and crisis and transforming lives through their integrated comprehensive services and advocacy initiates.

March 2021:  Bay Area Women's & Children Center -  DONATED $300!

Bay Area Women’s and Children’s Center, focused in the heart of San Francisco’s Tenderloin district, provides advocacy and planning to affect public policy, as well as support of long-term projects such as recreation centers, libraries, playgrounds and the like to support the needs and issues of low-income families, children and women in this neighborhood. 

 

Their largest and most far reaching project to date was initiating and leading the effort to get the Tenderloin Community School built -  a 350 student elementary school with custom built family service areas!

February 2021:  Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano - DONATED $300!

 

 

​

 

The Food Bank collects donated (and they also purchase) non-perishable food items and directly distributes them to low-income families throughout Contra Costa & Solano Counties as well as making food available to other non-profit organizations that serve the ill, needy and children.

​

They started their organization in 1975 and rely on more than 1,000 volunteers a month, over 80 staff members, a large fleet of trucks and two facilities totaling 70,000 square feet to procure and distribute food and grocery items.  Interested in volunteering (food sorting is our favorite Food Bank volunteering task!) or donating?  Check them out!

January 2021:  Monument Crisis Center -  DONATED $200!

Monument Crisis Center is a family resource center that provides food, education, and referrals to individuals, families, children, and seniors in need, no matter their legal status.  Monument Crisis Center opened their doors in 2003 and since that that time have continued to grow the client base that the serve, with now approximately 15,000 families signed up for their food distribution program.  Interested in hosting a drive or volunteering?  Check them out!  https://www.monumentcrisiscenter.org/
